An urgent letter to the early churches in Asia Minor, Galatians expresses Paul's concern for the spiritual welfare of the early believers. The central doctrine of Christianity was being undermined and confusion was growing as false teachers attempt to salvage the truth and integrity of the gospel, Paul penned Galatians-a book that would encourage hundreds of generations of Christians to remain steadfast in their faith. While contrasting grace and law, faith and works, Paul defends the theological and practical implications of Christianity and encourages believers- then and now- to live a holy life that bears much fruit. The Mac Arthur Study Guide Series provides a twelve week, verse-by-verse examination of the books of the New Testament. This revised and updated series continues to be one of the best-selling study guides currently available for individuals or small groups. Features Include: Twelve week study Thought-provoking questions Verse-by-verse commentary Space provided for note-taking
I used this study guide to lead a group of guys at work and found it very helpful with many thought provoking questions. A couple questions lost some of the others in the small group. At times, I had to explain the questions in a different fashion so everyone could understand. Every section of the book was laid out with starter questions, an explanation of the passage, bible text, definitions, cross references and application questions. As with majority of the MacArthur study guides, this one is a good middle of the road tool that can help new believers and more mature Christians. As long as everyone does their homework, this guide will provide the leader with a good guideline to facilitate the conversation. I would recommend this study guide for any small group that wants to study scripture line-by-line and verse-by-verse.

Great Work

I agree with the previvous reviewer, this is a great work on the doctorine of Grace and being set free to enjoy our salvation. But as with other works by John Macarthur, the use of a sharper editiorial pen would have been useful. MacArthur has a unfortunate habit of using 500 words when 50 would serve the purpose. Other than that, this is a very valuable work for deeper biblical knowledge.

This commentary clearly exposes false teachers and false religion. Word by word, MacArthur illuminates Paul's clear warnings and rebukes to the church at Galatia and the false teachers that were binding them in a hell of hypocrisy. A must read for anyone seeking to understand freedom in Christ. If Christianity is making you miserable, this respected teacher's book is a great relief.
