Gerald Brown, a handsome and brilliant young engineer, is wrongfully accused of stealing diamonds from his South African firm. Why has he been framed? Elizabeth Burleigh, a beautiful and talented West... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Gerald and Elizabeth are brother and sister with no other surviving relatives, who find redemption and love with each other's help. While the book was written in the late sixties, it feels more like it's set in the twenties or thirties, when respectable people had servants and dressed for dinner. There's not a hint of the actual culture of 60's London, where much of the book is set. Nevertheless the book is extremely pleasant and absorbing.
