Written specifically for the novice, Getting Started in Trading explains the basics of trading, in any time frame. While most beginner books answer such technical questions as -What is a put- and -What is a call-, this book describes both the -what- of trading and the how: how do I place a trade, how do I select a broker, and what do I tell them when I open my account? It provides detailed information on selecting a computer, software packages, and data sources.
This book is definitely for the beginner. The title says it all Getting Started in Trading. It briefly touches on all the different aspects of trading, and shows the reader exactly how many different choices and decisions have to be made before one can even start to "practice" trading. The author lists resources (other books, web sites and organizations) for the reader to seek out for further research, and nicely pairs the resources listed with the many choices the reader should be making along his/her path to becoming a trader.I chose to check this book out from the library. It's not one I feel the need to have sitting on my bookshelf. I got exactly what I needed out of it - a starting point and a list of places to go next for more information tailored to my specific research needs.
