Writer Charlotte Painter and artist/photographer Pamela Valois have combined their impressive talents to present these intimate glimpses into the lives of 32 remarkable women, each of whom has discovered in maturity the opportunity of exploring new and exciting challenges. All of the women are over 65 and the list includes well-known personalities.
My parents purchased this book for themselves when I was thirteen, and as a thoughtful teenage girl, I secretly loved it myself. The women featured did indeed lead remarkable, and creative, lives, and it was inspiring to read of them and know that I had decades and decades of possibilities ahead of me, to know that it was possible to survive and thrive and recreate one's life after various challenges. I regarded some of these women as role models and remember some of their stories still (though I haven't seen the book in more than ten years (since I left home).

The book would make a wonderful gift for elderly friends and relatives. It takes an in depth look at seniors (some famous faces included) living exciting and productive lives well into their golden years. Pamela Valois' beautiful photography complements the interesting side bar text making for a perfect addition to your cofee table.
