My daughter loves it

My 10-year-old is now knitting and creating completely on her own. She is so proud of herself and loves the patterns in both Gigi books. It was explained well, and she taught herself to knit (and purl!) from the books, without tears. Highly recommended.
Learn to knit and give to charity at the same time

This is a wonderful how-to book written for Tweens and Teens but it is an easy to follow instruction book for anyone wanting to learn how to knit. I might just revive my knitting needles and give it a try once more. A two page poem starts the book out with another poem on the third page. They are all about learning to knit and purl. AND it is rhyming poetry - something that I can understand! The next page gives you a list of basic materials you will need to begin knitting. A four page refresher on how to knit comes next, followed by the 2 page how-to on purling. The next six pages describe what stitches you will get when you combine the knit and purl techniques. Then there are eight patterns. The steps are clearly written and easy to follow. Each pattern is something very useful such as a dishcloth or a cat mat. The final page tells about Gigi's Kindness Corps which is a group that makes knitted objects for charity. What a wonderful idea to not only teach a young child how to knit but how to share with those less fortunate as well. Check out her web site for more information and patterns.

My neighbor kids call me gigi. so when I saw these books I new I needed to get them because I also am an avid knitter. I have been knitting for the past 4 years. I am in a monday night knitting group. I like to knit for charity and create my own barbie doll outfits. people say I need to start selling my work but I like doing it for gifts and charity only. I am 51 and stay at home mom but my baby is now in college this is my new job and I love it knitting.
