Essence bestselling author Brenda Hampton headlines this edgy fifth instalment of stories from three of Urban's best writers. Readers will be clamouring for more stories of tough, street-smart women - who boldly navigate life in the hood, a 'man's world'. Stories include 'Trick, Don't Treat' by Brenda Hampton, 'Queen Pynn' by Keisha Ervin and 'Breaking Down a Brickhouse' by Edd McNair. Each tale features tough, resilient women who cope with drugs, murder and mayhem, whilst showing the men what they're made of.
The only stories that I really enjoyed were Keisha Ervin's and Brenda Hamptons.I didnt too much care for the last story by Edd Mcnair,he did too much name dropping and the plot was all over the place.Because of his story it took me almost a week to finish this book.I gave it 4 stars on the strength of the first 2.This anthology could have been a whole lot better but its always one story that holds the book back.
I'm shocked but left satisfied

I started not to buy this book because I don't care much for those Girls From The Hood and Round The Way Girls books. The only reason I did pick it up was because of Ms. Hampton's talent and I needed a quick fix for one of her stories. The book was overall a decent read. My favorite author did her thing with Trick Don't Treat, but the other stories by Keisha and Ed were okay too. I didn't think it was one of those rush out and get books but it gave me the kind of relief I needed. I am surprised that Brenda included her story in this book especially since she's such an original writer. Please get back to the Naughty sequels.
