This edition is a full course of timed instruction designed by distinguished test-preparation coaches. It has numerous teaching features, inside test-taking strategies, and thousands of practice questions. Readers can even get online help from the coaches themselves.
This book was tremendously helpful. The lessons are logically planned. The review questions are approriately difficult. The practice tests are somewhat too easy so be certain to use the POWERPREP Software tests (provided by GMAT) to compliment the practice tests of the book. Overall, the book accomplishes the same objectives as a prep course (I improved my score by 70 points, something I don't think Kaplan or Princeton could guarantee) for substantially less money.
Demystifies the GMAT-CAT - ideal for GMAT beginners.

I used this book in preparation for my first sitting of the GMAT and did much better than I had expected. This book helps not only to categorise GMAT questions into manageable types, it also teaches us the various ways in which solutions to the questions can be derived, if not from actual knowledge, then from simple deduction or logical thinking. This is probably an education in itself! However, there were times when I felt that the questions, solutions and reasons for the solutions given were a bit too simplistic (and this was confirmed when I actually took the GMAT). The book also does not satisfactorily explain the mode by which GMAT scores are calculated. While this book serves as a good introduction to the GMAT, those who wish to improve their scores may wish to look for other preparation materials.
