You can start much earlier than age 2. Great beginner Bible

This was the first children's Bible we bought for our daughter 4 years ago when she was an infant and we have yet to find one we love as much, although she has gone on to more complex versions since. But ignore the age range and don't sell your child short - we began reading to her at about 4 months of age. Babies love to be read to, and even if they don't get the whole story, the names of the characters become familiar and they get the idea of how books work. What better resource to use to start developing your child's language skills and love of learning than the Holy Bible? We read the stories to her in their entirety and then summed it up in one sentence like, "Jacob had a dream." or "Sarah had a baby." By the time she was 18 months old, she could repeat those sentences back and give us small details like what the dream was about ("angels"). She could also identify every character by their picture by then. This is a great Bible for very young children and if you use it wisely, you can establish a hunger for God's Word early. Our daughter is now 4 1/2 and still loves Bible stories more than any others, which I believe started with this Bible when she was an infant.
Easy format; great coverage of Bible stories

This Bible does a great job of covering the full range of Bible stories in a very simple format that is accessible to a small child. We started using this when my daughter was 15 months or so. We didn't always read the whole text of the story at that point. Now she's 2-1/2 and we read a whole section each morning. She can identify the characters and the stories associated with them. The stories are not overly simplified. In my estimation, the appropriate parts are retained.
Great Bible for babies through toddlers.

This as an awesome beginner bible. The things that I like best are that it emphasises God's love for his world and for the reader and that it works well with babies who don't have much patience for a lot of words and continues to work well as they grow older. We started with just reading the God loves part (God loved Adam and Eve, God loved Noah and his family, God loved Abraham, etc.) Then as our kids got a bit older we would look at the pictures - they are full of detail that kids love to find (see the donkey? see the birds? etc) Then more recently we have been reading the full stories. You can't beat this Bible for little ones!
Thorough Storytelling

This book covers all the major Bible stories with a short and sweet style emphasizing the love of God. Female characters in stories (such as Samuel's mother or Rachael) are often highlighted, which provides some variety (when the stories are shortened, female characters are often omitted for the sake of brevity so occasional perspective shifts are necessary to keep characters from being almost entirely male). Really an excellent introduction to the Bible for young children.

The brightly colored pictures and the simple explanations provide young children with an excellent introduction to the Holy Bible. In a simple and straightforward way, Susan Elizabeth Beck has compiled a concise, comprehensive children's version of the Bible that concentrates on God's love for his people. I believe that the editors have made a mistake in targeting this Bible for ages 2-4. This edition is suitable for children up to age 6 or 7. Our 6 year old granddaughter loves this little book and I am sure she will continue to use it through 1st Grade.I highly recommend this beautiful little book.
