For use in schools and libraries only. Offering some advance warning about what to expect during a hospital stay, Mr. Rogers provides reassurance to help young children deal with their fears and... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Mr. Rogers always does a good job explaining difficult situations in his books. This one is no exception. I was pleased with the content and I was able to apply it to my daughter's situation of her specific surgery. Even though her's was outpatient and the child in the story stays overnight, it was still good for us.

Great book for prepping for a hospital trip,a little dated, but we were even able to read over it again in the waiting rooms, and point out stuff that was in the book.We feel it help him prepare because it was "real" information, instead of always having cartoon characters.

This book is awesome!! My 3-year-old daughter LOVES it! It's very easy for her to understand, and the pictures of real kids having routine hospital things done to them is very helpful. She had a "surprise" surgery to remove a brain tumor 2 months ago and wasn't prepared for the hospital experience. When we found out she had to have another surgery, we immediately bought this book and read it 3 or 4 times a day for two weeks before her surgery. It has proven to be invaluable!!! Way to go Mister Rogers!!

This book was wonderful in preparing my child for his trip to the hospital. It has photographs so it's realistic and makes it easier to explain what your child should expect at the hospital. It covers long-term stays at the hospital, as well as short-term stays. I highly suggest it.
Excellent Book for First-Time Hospital Visit!

This book was absolutely wonderful in preparing my 2 1/2 yr. old son to go to the hospital to have his tonsils removed. The book is filled will real-life color photographs of what to expect during a hospital stay. It really prepared my son in a realistic manner verses "cartoon" or "drawing" style books. Through the photos, he understood what a hospital room looked like, wearing a gown, getting an armband, and seeing Doctors and Nurses in their scrubs and masks. This book also pictured medical equipment used for vitals, X-rays, IVs, and lab tests. By describing the pictures to my son prior to his surgery, he was not afraid at the hospital. Additionally, this book is not directed at any particular reason for being in the hospital, but rather what to expect when you are there.
