'Going with God' is the fascinating biography of the Reverend Alexander Caseby (from 1898 to 1991), a most unusual and very special man, who pledged himself at the age of eleven to work as an overseas missionary. The Reverend Caseby kept diaries and related other experiences to his family and in local press stories throughout his life. This book is the result of lifelong questioning of his father mother and some twenty four years of work by Ronald Rodger Caseby, their youngest son, to transform the diaries and recollections into a memorable, extremely readable, well researched and historically valuable document. Initially, readers are treated to a vivid account of childhood in rural Fife, Scotland, during the early 1900s. Next they will share the horrors, trials, strains, pains and occasional joys of an ordinary Royal Field Artillery soldier throughout World War I. The war over and missionary and horticultural training completed the adventure continues with travel to Livingstonia in Malawi, West Africa, and there to appreciate not only the frustrations and physical hardships, but also the exhilarations of this dedicated missionary as he strives with Williamina, his wife, to create the conditions under which his flock will enjoy happier and healthier lives. Finally readers are return to Scotland, malaria and overwork having taken their toll of Alec, as he was known to his friends, and live with a dedicated parish minister who brings joy into the lives of countless fellow beings. This man was no Bible bashing evangelist, but a compassionate, inventive, tireless, loving and truly good man who gave his life to the service of others. No reader will finish this book doubting that this Biography revealed a man who lived each moment by his guiding Old Testament scripture from Micah, Ch. 6, v.8, RSV., "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good: and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?"
