On a beautiful fall afternoon after the rain, a young boy and his father go for a walk in the park. As the sun begins to set and father and son return home, the boy says goodnight to all his favorite and familiar friends - the squirrels, the deer, the mouse, and the cats. As he prepares for bed, the boy says goodnight to his stuffed bears, his mom and dad, and most especially to his Creator. Vividly illustrated with jewel-tone paintings, Good Night God is a restful and reassuring bedtime story.
We needed another good night book for my son's bedtime routine and I really wanted one focused on God. I got this one for his birthday, and he loves it. He loves books in general, but some he will have nothing to do with. Not this one. The pictures are beautiful and the story is even sweeter. Great choice for going to bed!
The New Bedtime Classic

After receiving My Spiritual Alphabet Book as a gift, I quickly ordered all of Holly Bea's books. I love reading Good Night, God to my son. Even at 10 months he is enamored with the illustrations and rhythmic pace of Bea's writing. I titled this review as The New Bedtime Classic due to its refreshing take on Good Night Moon. The expressive illustrations provide several opportunities for parent and child to interact, question and make up new stories. This book is at the top of the stack at our house!
Sweet Good Night

I love this book, but what is more important, my 2-year old loves it too! Even at 18 months, he would snuggle in my arms in his darkened bedroom just before bedtime, and I would recite this simple yet lovely rhyme to him from memory. He would ask me for "God" when he wanted to hear the story. Now he thinks he's too old to get cuddled before bed, but he wants to hold my hand and asks me to recite "God." This book is a blessing, and a great way to wind down the day.

Leaves of fire, skies of blue with puffy great clouds framing a fine Fall sunset, a little boy plays & sings his goodnights to all he sees around him with simple reverence & that glorious childhood confidence. With Kim Howard's vivid, immediate & colorful illustrations, Holly Bea sets a lovely teaching bedtime story before us. I recommend Good Night God for anyone with the wonder of a child for this bright & lovely time of year & the desire to thank God for the love of life. Grandparents, aunts & uncles - this one is a must on your Gift Lists.
Another Beautiful Meeting Of Words And Pictures!

Holly Bea and Kim Howard have done it again! This book is a lovely, reassuring "good night" book for all young children, with words they can soon read themselves, charming paintings of familiar scenes, and a message of love that embraces all religious and spiritual beliefs. My 3 and 5 year old children have added this to their "most requested" list (next to "Where Does God Live?" and "My Spiritual Alphabet Book" and "Matzoh Ball Soup")--and we enjoy it each time we "have to" read it again!
