When a proponent of a controversial casino project is shot in the woods near her house, all eyes are on Lili Marino. If she doesn't want to trade her gourds for license plates, she'll have to find the real killer in the second novel of this series featuring gourd crafting facts and tips. Original.
I'd really have to give this 4.5 stars instead of the full 5. I wasn't too impressed by the first book in this series, but I tried the second one anyway. This book was a lot better. Mainly, the book was much faster paced, which I think is essential to a good mystery novel. The first 50 pages are a little sluggish, but the plot picks up from there. The ending was a little predictable, though. We learn more about Lili's family too. I still feel that there is something missing from this book, though. Maybe the gourds are the problem. I personally find any passage dealing with a gourd to be incredibly boring, but that is only my opinion. Other readers will feel differently.
