A thoroughly researched, thoroughly entertaining adventure

For a series that has gone on for so many years, Mark Ellis can still surprise his loyal fans. Although earlier Outlanders novels have touched on Arthurian lore, Grailstone Gambit is the first to use it as a backdrop, but in the unique style we've come to expect in the work of Mark Ellis. Fand and Morrigan from earlier books make a return appearance, as does an old foe whom everybody--including me---thought was long dead. Grailstone Gambit had touches of a fantasy novel and might even have worked as one, but Kane, Brigid and Grant aren't very impressed magic or what appears to be magic. Grailstone Gambit is thoroughly researched about Arthur, Merlin, the Grailstone, the Tuatha De Danaan and other aspects of Celtic legend. The result is a thoroughly entertaining adventure, colorful and fast-moving. Highly recommended.
