This is our third time around for this excellent book..

When our first grandchild was born, I received a grandmother gift: a copy of this book's companion (Grandmother Remembers). I was so pleased with it that I looked for a similar book for my husband, and was delighted to find Grandfather Remembers. For each succeeding grandchild, I have bought a new pair of these books. We take our time filling them in, and present them to the grandchild at a time when the child will personally enjoy them. (The reason I bought only one this time is that the one my husband was working on got damaged.) These excellent books can be filled in briefly or in minute detail (which is the way we do). We have enjoyed the process in each case, and our two eldest grandchildren (22 and 16) do treasure them. This pair was a special "Sweet Sixteen" gift for our granddaughter. The earlier pair was a Bar Mitzvah gift for our grandson. We have one more pair, which we'll work on in a leisurely way for our 7-year-old grandson, to be given at a future date.
What every grandfather should complete

After looking through many other grandfather memory books, I found this one to be the one with the right information and pages to complete. It has spaces to include pictures and other items I received the book witihin 4 days of placing the order.
Perfect!

I bought this and the Grandmother Remembers books for my parents as a Christmas present (at the time I was expecting my first baby, their first grandchild). Both books were really big hits! The trick is getting them to actually go though and fill everything out though. Hopefully, they'll finish before Sophia is their age... =]
really good grandparent journal

This book is not sappy at all. It has a fun & upbeat get-to-know-you style - something that I think children will want to read both while they're still young AND when they're grown. It's a fill-in-the-blank format with generous sized blanks for your answers (but it doesn't expect whole paragraphs) - easy and fun for the grandfather to fill-in. It asks the kinds of questions about childhood that a child would want to know (hobbies, favorite things, what did you do to earn money & what did you spend it on, what were your chores, etc). It covers the grandfather's childhood, young adulthood, engagement/wedding, first year of marriage, his children being born, and the grandchild being born. It is very comprehensive. Good, fun illustrations inside, too. Highly recommended.
Perfect gift

What a wonderful gift for both a grandfather and grandchild. It meant a lot to both grandfather and granddaughter to sit and share his life. My daughter gave it to her grandfather as a birthday gift and on completion he in turn gave it to her. It helped her feel closer to him because he lives so far away. What a great idea! I wish I had something like this of my grandparents.
