This is such a fun book to skim and to dig into. It's reminded me of dozens of old faves, but more importantly, it's introduced tons of new writers who've been great to get to know. A total pleasure, and highly recommended to all who enjoy books.
A valuable resource for readers with a variety of interests

I completely disagree with the other reader review. I like this list of "good-reads" a lot. It's certainly not the book you'd reach for if you want to read the most important books in the history of literature. There are many other books that can help you with that. This one is just a very quick reference to help you find a really good book to read, perhaps while checking out your local library, or looking for something for your spouse or kids to read. I have several of these types of guides: 500 Great Books by Women, Bloomsbury's Guide to Good Reading, Great Books for Girls, Great Books for Boys. This one is less serious than most, and is full of books that I've already read that I enjoyed immensely. It's kind of like asking a friend what they've read lately and would recommend. Maybe it's not for everyone, but I think it's a valuable resource for my collection.
