Change the way you clean and keep your family's home wholesome and healthy with the help of expert and activist Deirdre Imus. We all grew up thinking chemical smells like bleach and ammonia signaled "clean." But as Deirdre Imus reveals, some of the chemicals we use to maintain our homes are doing us and our families much more harm than good. In Greening Your Cleaning, the first in her Green This! series, Deirdre shows how cleaning house the environmentally responsible way can be as effective and often cheaper than the more traditional, toxic, means. This volume includes: Simple, efficient cleaning methods for every room of the house Spotlights on everyday products (all purpose cleaner, glass/window cleaner, laundry detergent) and the toxic ingredients you should be wary of Summaries of the latest research on the toxic effects of ordinary chemicals Resource lists of widely available "green cleaning" products and retailers Filled with tips and testimonials, Greening Your Cleaning will show you how to streamline your cleaning products and practices, and how easy it is to make "living green" your way of life.
Love the way she stated the reasons why she believed we should help the planet by helping ourselves plus all the tips were simple and easy to apply!

I am giving this book to members of my family and friends. It is a straightforward introduction to green cleaning. I learned a lot reading this book. I went out and purchased the Imus products and am delighted with the results. You can save space, money and time following Deirdre Imus' tips. Moreover, it is a way to support the Imus ranch and the Imus family who have done so very much for children throughout the years. I will never go back to the way I cleaned before (using toxic substances) - this way is faster, better, less expensive and healthier.

"Green This!", to me, looks like a great starter book for someone who has never considered cleaning green, or wants to, but has no idea where to start. I did not think it was an ad for her products as I only saw them mentioned maybe 4 times in the entire book. The author refers to many other store bought natural products, so it is helpful for the person that really does not want to make home made products, but wants to learn how and where to buy the right stuff to use and why the chemical stuff is bad. The author also mentions different homemade combo's using baking soda, vinegar, lemon juice and salt, and how to use them. She offers many helpful tips. She includes an extensive reference on what chemicals are harmful. I think it is a good book, but probably not for someone who is already cleaning green. This is a starter book for sure.
Thank You!

Deirdre Imus' new book is great! It is full of hands on practical advice that will make your home a safer place for your children. I have been using The Imus Greening the Cleaning products for several years-they work well! I made the mistake of buying carpet spot cleaner from another company and by using it I had to take my daughter to the Emergency Room with her first asthma attack ever! Never again! Follow the recommendations in this book to stay environmentally friendly and keep your kids safe! Having the profits go to a program for Kids with Cancer is a nice bonus! The work that the Imus family has done for children, the environment, our military families, and our veterans far outweighs one stupid thoughtless remark!Buy this book and boycott MSNBC.
Greening the Cleaning...

Deirdre Imus has done so much to help the environment by providing products for a cleaner, greener earth and this book is excellent! I admire her for giving 100 percent of the proceeds to the ranch to benefit kids with cancer. I hope that Volume 2 will come out in the future. The price of the book is very reasonable. And it's easy to read and to refer to... I have used several suggestions in the book and the Greening the Cleaning cleaner to get red koolaid off my cabinet and it worked so well. She gives lists of helpful websites to go to for additional information. Keep your head up, Deirdre, and continue what you're doing to help make things better for children and for the environment. You have my respect and admiration as always.
