A good solid story in the old-fashioned sense, with well-defined characters and real emotions. Not for readers who prefer the steamier side of romance.

Loved this book. It was very touching and well written. This is not a book for anyone who wants HOT romance scenes, but a great love story about love over differences. I have read it twice.

It's been three years since Nicole Evans' husband, a Chicago police officer, was killed and she is still dealing with the loss. On the day he was shot her son, who witnessed the shooting, stopped talking. Nicole moved to Miami to protect him, but after three years of more therapists and psychiatrists than she cares to number, he still has not talked. As a nurse at Miami General Hospital, Nicole crosses paths with Julian Marquez, an ultra famous Latin pop star. Her reaction is subdued, but Julian is intrigued; he pursues her. Nicole questions why a world renowned performer would be even remotely interested in her. She does not mirror the typical leggy blonde models he dates; she has a six-year-old mute son and she has shown no interest in him. But Nicole's real problems are how Julian makes her feel and her son's immediate attachment to him. Julian has a closet full of mental skeletons himself, but something about Nicole and her son gives him the courage to face them. For the first time in his life, Julian wants his own life, he wants a real commitment, and he wants to help someone. Can two people, so opposite in all the important things, forge a beginning that will soothe each other's souls? Can Nicole's son unlock Julian's past? Can Julian finally accept his Cuban heritage? And will Nicole's son talk again? HAVANA SUN, filled with suspense, family dominance and anticipation, has the warmth of Miami's sunny beaches. Ms. Hunt has written a story of courage that will capture anyone who has had to believe in themselves. The characters were typical, but believable, and the realness of the situations felt right.
