Book Overview

Growing up in small-town Wisconsin, Bob Brenner fed his addictions to food and football, becoming the biggest guy in his family of six siblings and on the defensive lines of winning team after winning team. Bob's size was an asset that he wanted to continue growing. Football carried Bob to the status of hometown hero on a college football team that he eventually coached. However, his education was all about pursuing his lifelong dream of being a police officer. Going into the dark underground of drug trafficking, Bob's size was an asset once again. He used it to thwart gun and knife-wielding murderers and fool some of the scariest criminals into thinking he was just another sloppy, drunken drug dealer while he took them down. But the life was taking Bob down, too. His addictions to alcohol and food were out of control, leaving Bob in a morbidly obese 448 lb. body that couldn't even _t into his bulletproof vest. His marriage was falling victim to the double life. His finances were a wreck as Bob kept up an image worthy of a narcotics heavy hitter. His faith was nonexistent and his body wouldn't be around long enough to clean up any of it. Life on the edge pushed Bob's weight and his well-being over it. The adrenaline-infused tales of Bob's youth and his portentous career as a narcotics officer ultimately gave way to the spiritual journey and commitment to changing his physical appearance and lifestyle that transformed Bob into a man on the edge of Commitment, Love, Integrity and Faith...life at the edge of C.L.I.F.

Generation G, excellent and timely advice

Generation G by Marty Norman is an excellent book on grandparenting. In the first part of the book, Marty lets us into her world and experience her joy upon first hearing that she would be a grandmother. Later on, she gives extremely useful tips on grandmothering. I found her advice useful and very positive. The subtitle of her book, "Advice for Savvy Grandmother Who Will Never Go Gray" tells us alot about the author and the...

CBN.com Review

Beautifully written and even a little poetic at times, this book is arranged into essays about growing older, motherhood, and becoming a grandparent. It offers gentle advice, enjoyable and humorous personal stories, and lighthearted encouragement for those women who find themselves transitioning from motherhood to grandmother-hood. Generation G would make a unique and delightful gift--and the price is right too!

Generation G

Generation G, by Author Marty Norman, is an excellent book that gives advice for savvy grandmothers. Grandmothers of this generation are different than grandmothers of the past. Things and times have changed. Grandmothers are not like the images we have of them sitting in a rocking chair, in the kitchen with their apron, or sitting on the back porch watching the world go by. Grandmothers of today are active. They travel, teach,...

Generation G

With each word and paragraph I was amazed how God gave Marty the ability to put on paper what a grandmother feels but cannot articulate in words. It was as if she read my heart. You will laugh, find encouragement, and be inspired in your grandmother role.

Great Mother's Day Find!!

I was moved to read this sweet account of a mother-turned-grandmother's journey. This is the kind of story we hope to all tell our families about our grandparents. I learned so much about love and kindness and parenting, from such a savvy writer!
