One of the best of the Hellboy-related prose novels

This novel by Mark Morris was a real page turner. I could hardly put it down and when I was finished I wished there was more to read. Morris not only has a wonderful grasp of Hellboy, Abe, Liz, and their inter-relationships, he also has an almost perfect feel for the universe created by Mike Mignola. I especially love stories that pit Hellboy against evil forces that are almost too big even for him to contend with. I find that making Hellboy too invulnerable as a character can also tend to make him boring as a character. Morris handles this aspect of the story with great panache and heart-stopping fight scenes. The outcome has a twist that I, honestly, never expected and that made this book even greater in my estimation. I'm looking forward to re-reading it and would highly recommend it to any who like these prose novels based on the comic books.
