Help Yourself is a self-help program for migraine sufferers. Using it, your patients will learn techniques for managing tension and pain, techniques that will actually reduce the number and severity of your headaches.
The program is designed to be used under the supervision of a health care professional, such as a nurse, doctor, therapist, or counsellor, who will help you work through the steps, week by week. The program takes fifteen weeks to complete, seven of which will involve working through the manual and practicing the relaxation and stress-management techniques described. You will also be listening to relaxation exercises on the audio tape that comes with the Help Yourself program.
The Help Yourself program demands a high level of commitment in order to be effective, but for most people this commitment is amply rewarded by the reduction in the number and severity of headaches.
