The second volume in the Gibson saga brings us the harrowing tale of one woman's rise through England's unforgiving social elite. In 1845 Annie Gibson can at last leave behind her the desperate times... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Annie ( could she be an ancestor of the author?) is resourceful, intelligent, full of common sense and courage. She faces many difficult situations living in Bilsden, a rough factory town, but is ever the survivor and most stable member of her family and neighborhood. She works long, hard hours to better herself and shows the reader how a resourceful young lady can rise above extremely difficult circumstances. I highly recommend this book, and can't wait to read the next one in the 5-part saga.
Salem Street

"Salem Street is Book One of the Gibson Family Saga, a five part saga, set in the nineteenth century in industrial Lancashire, UK. Each book is complete in itself, but follows the lives of the same family.", from Anna's web sight http://www.annajacobs.com. So, this is a five part Saga, not a trilogy! I loved the first three books but can not get the last two. I guess US citizens will have to buy from the UK!
I loved this book!

This book was great...better than Salem Street. Annie's character comes alive and you feel her pain and triumps right along with her. Easy reading with a little, classic romance. I hope to find the next in the series, Ridge Hill.
I loved it as much as I loved Salem Street

I read Salem Street three times waiting to get my hands on High Street. I can't wait to read Ridge Hill. Anna Jacobs brings her characters to life and you laugh, cry, and worry right along with Annie Gibson.
