This book is a great value to carry, good size and easy to pack along. In addition to the usual info about equipment, safety, and best places, I really appreciated the tips on such things as breaking in boots, going with children, picking a campsite, and "Can I Carry All That?" (title of one section)! There is a lot here!: Info on British, European, Australian trails and The Himalayas, in addition to U.S. destinations! Sections on Mountaineering, Snowshoeing, Cross-Country Skiing, Off-Trail Travel, and Orienteering. A great resource in the back on where to get maps. These authors did a fine piece of work in this one little book!
