Though unable to read printed words; the author based this novel on stories about her mother's childhood and youth... After reading the first five chapters of her book, the author's mother said,"Well, that's not what really happened,of course,but you are telling a good story." Her mother died from cancer soon after. I found this part of it intriguing enough to read the book.
