Book review

There was no text assigned for my History & Philosophy of Educ. class, just a bunch of books on reserve in the library for us to utilize to write our essays. This book (7th Ed.) was by far the most resourceful, covering the Colonial Period right up to the present. It has so much information relevant to education but also what was going on during each time period so that you get a better understanding of why these movements in education occured. After each chapter is a "Then & Now" where they tie in for isntance how aspects of education in the 1600's are still prominent in today's education system. It's a great book and definatly interesting, I just wanted to be able to sit down and read it cover to cover.

I thought this book was an excellent combination of information and facts. Not only was it easy to find the information you wanted but it was also very interesting, unlike many of these kinds of books. I think it is an excellent rescource for any teacher or person wanting to know about education and how we got where we are.
Comprehensive Textbook

This book is about the basic history of American Education, from the Revolution to Modern Times. Chapters are broken down into time periods, many charts, graphs, timelines available. Critical Analysis sections, end-of chapter questions, and bibliographies for each chapter are very helpful! this book is great for a Foundations of Education course.
