This work by the Scottish historian Mark Napier sets out to debunk what he sees as the myths and falsehoods perpetuated by a previous work, History Vindicated. Napier argues that the earlier book, which was published in the mid-19th century, distorted the historical record in order to promote a particular political agenda. In contrast, History Rescued offers a more nuanced and accurate picture of the events in question, drawing on a wide variety of sources and taking into account the perspectives of all relevant parties.
