While I recognize that perhaps this is not the most original gathering of patterns, I just have to put in my two cents here and say that if you have this book and One Skein on your shelf, you should be completely covered for just about any fun gift knitting project you could ever want or need to come up with! I love this book!
Great book, but MANY of the patterns are available in magazines!

Right after I purchased this book, I started receiving the '06 holiday issues of all the knitting magazines I subscribe to. I was a little disappointed to see so many of the patterns re-printed (with the exact same photos so they were a easy to spot) in this season's magazines. I kind of feel like I paid for them twice! I should have just skipped the book. But---the book is beautifully done and photographed. But in my opinion, many of the patterns are pretty time consuming (many with lots of finishing), so I'm not sure they will be very fast gift projects. And many of them are pretty advanced patterns.
Outstanding!

This is, by far, the best knitting book I own. The instructions are very clear and in plain english. The back section explains each stitch very simply. The authors offer lots of personal tips on each project. The book, itself, is beautiful. The pictures are crisp and admirable, the set up is intuitive. I love the way it breaks the projects down into the amount of time it will take to complete each one. I have flipped through some other holiday knitting books, and the same old predictable Santa intarsia is featured in each one. These designs are classic and perfect for gift giving.
The best book I have purchased

I just received this book. I have many, many books on knitting. Most of the books have a few patterns that I would consider, but this book...I wish I had received it earlier because I want to make every pattern. It is the first book that I have received where I will find time to make everything. I have a pretty good idea what everybody on my list is getting next Christmas. If you want something that has some different ideas in knitting, plus cute, different standbys, get this book.

I picked up with book in the book store to have something to look at while my children played with the train set. I had no intention of buying it, but I loved it. The entire book is wonderful. The patterns are doable, cute and easy. The photography is great too. I bought the book and can't wait to finish all the projects!
