The Precise Parallel New Testament presents seven of the most well-known New Testament translations side by side on each page along with the original Greek text. Comparing these translations verse by verse brings to light important differences in language and interpretation among seven works based on the same original language documents. The translations included in The Precise Parallel New Testament have all at one time been considered the most accurate versions of their eras. This volume reveals how the perception of accuracy has changed over the years. The emergence of new scholarship and the growing importance of issues such as inclusive language have forced revisions of older versions such as the King James and the Rheims. These changes have caused more contemporary translations to emerge including The New American Standard, considered the closest approximation to a word-for-word translation of the original texts, and The Amplified Bible, which reflects word for word accuracy in a different way by providing alternative translations of certain words within the text to make their meaning clearer. The Precise Parallel New Testament includes translations spanning the widest range of Christian perspectives. The Rheims and the more contemporaryNew American Bible are preferred by Catholics. The New International Version and The New American Standard present a more evangelical view in their interpretation. The New Revised Standard Version is favored by mainline Protestants for its accuracy and sensitivity to issues such as inclusive language. This volume gives remarkable insight into the effects time and differet faith orientations have had on translation of this fundamental work. The Precise Parallel New Testament is an invaluable resource for readers with a deep interest in the study of language and the Bible. It is also an excellent reference tool for pastors and language scholars. * Gives insight into the influences of different faiths and social views on translation of the Bible. * Presents seven of the most well-known Bible translations side by side for comparison with the original Greek.
This book is a must have for any Christian Apologist, and people who understand the importance of translations. Original Greek beside King James Version text PLUS 6 other translations. All in one book. Wow, it's a book that I should have bought years ago.
Best parallel NT

The Precise Parallel New Testament (PPNT) is the best parallel NT available. It combines venerable "old" translations (King James Version and Douay Rheims), and modern translations of broad appeal to Protestant and Catholic alike (New International Version, New Revised Standard Version, New American Bible, and New American Standard Bible). It also includes the Amplified Bible which, although it cannot be used for daily reading, is very useful for bible study. But the linchpin to this parallel bible is that, in addition to all these other translations, it includes the Greek text (UBS4). This combination of translations literal, loose, and the original text make this my bible of choice for sermon preparation and study. My only complaint is that it lacks ample margins. Fortunately, the parallel texts often are of differing length, leaving sometimes substantial room for marking and noting the text.
Excellent for Close Study

This is a great tool for students of the Greek New Testament. If you are a pastor and your Greek skills are falling awaythis is a very good book to add to your library. The GreekNT is included along with some historic "literal" or formalequivalent translations. I do not agree with the choice of theAmplified Bible, but that does not detract from the usefulnessof this resource. I find myself pulling it off the shelf whenI am preparing sermons. Another tool for preachers that ishighly recommended.
As a student of Beginning New Testament Greek, this book was invaluable to my learning by being able to compare the Great Translations of both old time and new time. Having this is in my collection often eliminated the need for a lexicon in the preparation of word studies and has been a continuing help in my work in the Greek Language.
