where have all the socks gone?

Do you have any lone socks without a match? Have you checked the top of cupboards to see if there is a small stuffed owl nesting there? Hoot is the story of a series of stuffed animals (A.A. Milne-style) and their adventures. Awakened in the night by a thump and something whizzing around their heads, the animals discover that there is a small owl who has been living in their room. He was living on top of the cupboard in a nest built out of the mismatched (or so he thought) socks which he found lying around. They all have a midnight (for Hoot, it's lunchtime) snack and get to know each other; then the animals help Hoot find a new nest since his old one was ruined in the fall. After Hoot settles down in a nice soft knit hat with a pompom on top, he returns all the mismatched socks so that each sock in the drawer has a mate again. This is a really cute story! I love the illustrations, the dialogue is nice (even sounds like A.A. Milne in a few places) and the plot is creative. Read this book with your children and watch their imagination soar! And don't be surprised if you see more play-acting with their stuffed animals. Now, I'm off to sort my socks. hmmm, where is the match to this one???
