Under the editorial supervision of Horticulture magazine, Halpin has created a reference book on growing, propagating, and caring for plants. The beginning gardener will find general explanations on... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book has everything you need to know to be a successful gardener! It's got all the details about how to do everything, how things work (the natural processes), what plants to put where, propagation and division techniques, soil recipes, proper pruning methods, watering, fertilizing, etc., etc. It is very detailed and covers just about every possible topic in gardening, and it's set up in a super-easy-to-find-what-you-want-to-know way. One of the best parts for me, as a fairly new home farmer, is the detailed illustrations of what different things look like: bulbs and tuber types, flower shapes, leaf shapes, tree pruning cuts, etc. (Plus all the lists!!) The title says it all....I can't say anymore. If you garden in any way, you need this book!

A great reference book. I keep it at hand so I can refer to it, when I have ideas/questions. I have purchased copies for my gardening friends. It's a good way the while away the winter weather, and a buddy for catalog dreaming. No pics, but who needs them, with catalogs and the internet nearby.
