This book should be a requirement for brokers, appraisers, and investors in residential real estate. The authors do a great job describing different house types, architectural styles, construction types, building materials, mechanical systems, and much more. After reading this book, whether you are a broker, appraiser, or investor, you will be able to describe the physical aspect of the property better to third-parties involved in the real estate transaction. As a newly licensed realtor I found that there was much I didn't know about house styles and structure. I purchased this book on the recomendation of a home appraiser. I must say it has answered all my house design questions. Not sure of the differance between a bi-level and split-level home? You need this book! It covers all the aspects of house design from style and construction to the various systems needed to make the home a comfortable habitat. I keep this book on my desk to use as a quick reference manual for any house related question.

Excellent book for someone interested in any field related to real estate, architecture or construction. Very, very helpful in becoming familiar with zoning, land and construction of different types of homes. Lots of pictures and diagrams. Not just a bunch of reading.
