I picked this book up in California because of the Title, but when I started to read it, I didn't want to put it down. While the introduction of characters is cute in the beginning, the interjections by the author soon become important asides that tie things together. Not only do we read about challenges, accomplishments and victory by the subjects, but we realize that we can jump on that bandwagon! This is a must read for anyone who cares about his/her health, the health of loved ones, and, yes, the earth we live on.
It's all connected

"How Dog Food Saved the Earth" is one of those unique crossover books that calls attention to the fact that our actions have very real consequences. Part fable, part business model, the book is an accessible read with a solid message: with hard work, a little synchronicity, and a whole lot of passion, like-minded people can come together to enact change. In this age of doom and gloom, it's inspiring to read a book with a "can-do," hopeful theme.
How dog food opened up my eyes

A wonderful book that has the ability to change the way you look at what you buy and what you put into your body. The authors of this book tackle the stigma of "organic" food and defeat the stereotypes that organic foods are just for the hippies and health food enthusiasts. Both Swanson and Zolezzi have presented a story that is easy to read, understand, and sympathize with people who are trying to survive in a world that values the dollar a bit more than doing the right thing. As it is said in the title, this book certainly changed my thinking when I go to the grocery store, and got my family and I to consider where the food we purchase comes from before we select it. A book that everyone should read.
