This is a book for little kids. It's colorful (the females weren't usually painted as brown), and kind of mixes the traditions of different dynasties. It shows what life might be like for an ancient Egyptian Princess.

The introduction is brilliant and funny; it is written like a job description for someone seeking a position in the Royal household as an Egyptian princess. Family life including polygamy among the pharaohs is shown; clothing; jewelry; food; music; bartering system; entertainment; Gods and Goddesses; furniture and health care as well as health concerns and pets are beautifully illustrated. Readers come away with a rich knowledge about life among royalty in Egypt. This book is as delightfully rich and fertile in ideas and information as the Nile. Readers will come away with a deeper appreciation of life during the time of the pharaohs and will undoubtedly view this book as a king's (or pharaoh's) treasure.

I bought this book b'c it was on the second grade summer reading list of one of the top elementary boarding school in New England. There is a TON of information in this book -- maybe too much in such limited space. The pictures are detailed as well.
