This is a good second book to have in your Dreamweaver arsenal. I say second, because it assumes you already know a little about the program, though in the intro the author states that it's for the beginner, I don't believe that's so. If you're just starting I would recommend the Dreamweaver MX 2004 book by Garo Green, however there is a lot of stuff in this book you won't find in Mr. Green's. Once you get in the program, this book will be a handy tool to have on hand. I use it kind of like a reference book. If you've already mastered the basics of the program, than this is a book I'm sure you'll find useful. I know I do.

Simply put, this is a well written, easy to follow, informative and yet easy to understand guide to Dreamweaver MX. The author does a great job of conveying his message in a clear and concise manner. Just an all around great guide and actually fun to read. Highly recommend this to anyone starting out using Dreamweaver MX.

Excellent Reference for an Excellent Product

Designed for the novice or intermediate-level user, this reference is a well-written guide that simply makes sense. I like Meadra's writing style. He does not assume too much and his focus in on the READER, not just the software. The text of the book flows well and kept me focused. It takes you step by step through the process of learning Dreamweaver.First, Meadra teaches in "Getting to Know Dreamweaver" the various panels and windows with their respective options. Understanding the web-creation tools, their purpose, and what they can do really helped me feel comfortable with the software and move into a web project with confidence. This section teaches how to set things up on both your hard drive and a remote server.Second, Creating Basic Web Pages teaches essentials of working with text and graphics.Third, "Going Beyond the Basics" covers topics such as tables, frames, forms, and templates.Fourth, "Expanding Your Horizons" discusses style sheets, layers, and various interactive elements. Fifth, "Managing Your Site with Dreamweaver" covers site maintenance and working with others on the same project. Each chapter of the book begins with a series of learning tasks which in turn define the chapter's contents. Well structured and easy to follow. As an intermediate-level user of Dreamweaver, I learned more that expected from this book. I highly recommend HTDE with Dreamweaver MX as an excellent reference for an excellent product. If you are new to Dreamweaver don't miss out on this great teaching tool
Great for exactly what it says it is - for new users!

I am so tired of reading reviews on books by people who bought the book without reading what the author says about it. In this case the book clearly states that it is an introduction to the program, yet there are at least two reviewers who have given the book a low rating because it is below their level of expertise. This is a wonderful book if you are new to DreamWeaver and want a really good foundation. DreamWeaver is deceptive because it is easy to use but you can find yourself with a lot of problems if you do not understand the basics.Just thought I would put in my two cents,Leslie
