If two heads are supposed to be better than one, how about 516 heads? That's the number of contributors to this inspiring book in the popular How to Survive series. How to Lose 9,000 lbs or Less collects real advice and stories from people who've fought on the front lines of the diet wars and won. Topics include motivation (how to turn that nonstop diet chatter into action); brand-name diets (which ones work best); exercise (fun ways to get fit); medical help (from pills to surgery); and sticking with it (how to keep the weight off). The book encourages and entertains with surprising but practical insights such as eating a pickle to counter sugar cravings or putting a picture of an exercise guru on the treadmill for accountability.
What a great book filled with positive diet tips from people that have lost the weight. Great advice to read over and over again! It's perfect reinforcement for when the going gets tough!

This is the first "hundreds of heads" book I've read, and the format certainly provides lots of somethings for everyone. The most beneficial aspect to me is the fact that there are comments from so many people that there is no way some of the advice won't be just right for you. I also enjoyed the good mix of humor; my favorite comment was on page 51 where a lady was talking about the problem with buying diet books is you don't know if they work for you until you try them, and if they don't, "that's $20 you could have spent on ice cream." You know, that's just how life is. If we take ourselves too seriously we'll just drive ourselves nuts. I also agree with the other reviewer who said this was a good book to give as a gift without offending.
Finally Something Really Useful

Diet books come and go....each with some new fad and theory...but after a few weeks they are usually cast aside, ready for E-Bay. This book is a great surprise. It's really helpful. It has real life-tested tips that I can carry with me no matter the current diet craze. The best advice is always that from folks who have been there. This book is chock full with those kinds of suggestions, ideas, information, from people who are fighting the same battle. It's fun and encouranging to know that I am not alone. I feel smarter and emboldened after breezing through this great guide. I'm feeling 9,000 pounds lighter already.
Great sound 'bites' in this book. Wonderful advice on how to lose weight.

I read a few tips every day and they've been very helpful. I learned a great tip - to try cooking with spaghetti squash instead of pasta - and love it! I never would have thought of that - and it's delicious... This book is filled with solid advice, inspiring stories of weight-loss and a some funny tales, too. I don't know that I'll lose 9,000 Lbs...but I'm certain I'll lose a few thanks to this book!
Perfect Present

It's not often you can give someone else a book on dieting without offending them. But this book did the trick. My sister is not obese, but she has always been on and off diets ... and so I gave her this book, thinking the title and the picture on the front would put a fun spin on it. Turns out she loves it! Says there's lots of good advice, and it's fun to read.
