The general management approach in this text emphasizes how the human resource function helps an organization gain competitive advantage. Rather than focusing on detailed theoretical coverage geared to the Human Resource Professional, this book focuses each chapter on developing a clear understanding of the various HR functions and on the working relationship between the HR department and other organizational departments. The information presented is targeted to the 90% of students who will not become HR professionals.
While this is often used as a text book for learning basic HR practices it is also filled with HR scenarios that transcend basic ideas and require practical solution. This was a very helpful text and guide for the work place.
HR Management by Kleiman: A Practical Text
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 24 years ago
While there is no shortage of texts on human resources management, it is not easy to find one as practical and useful as Human Resource Management: A Tool for Competitive Advantage by Lawrence Kleiman. I train new HR managers and consult with General Managers in China and have found this to be the best book for both audiences. The case studies and practical applications are right on the money, even in multinationals doing business in foreign countries. This is a must-have for my library.
