Hurtling to the Edge: A Thriller Involving Physics, Religion, Drugs...and Sex

Having lost her husband in a car accident, Lexi Lambeau moves to the NC beach. As a 53-year old widow and mother of two sons in the Navy, she becomes bored and goes online to meet someone "different." After evaluating potential candidates with her eclectic group of friends (a female Lutheran pastor, a 30-something NYC stay-at-home attorney/mother who is addicted to porn, and a local bookstore owner), she picks out a much younger "Physics guy" who teaches in Arizona. Much to her friends' consternation, she decides to take a road trip with him through the west. THINGS HAPPEN Hurtling to the Edge is a rollicking, suspenseful romp into the worlds of astronomy, religion, drugs, physics, alpacas, henna artists, hiking, turtles, cross dressers, body surfing, mentalists, medieval history, snakes, high speed trading, and "relationships." Lexi becomes involved with an array of wild characters, including Suave Maria, The Fallen Mormon, Mama Crass, and a desert hermit, to name only a few. During her adventures, Lexi finds herself in increasingly dangerous situations, reminding her that sins of the past are not so easily scrubbed, or forgiven. Her survival now depends on her new persona, The Counselor. She, and her traveling companion, "LawrenceofAcadia" (his online name), both learn that things are often not as they seem. Above all, do not underestimate this woman as she Hurtles to the Edge In this nearly 500 page novel, the reader will laugh, worry, learn, wonder, and empathize - all while being taken on a roller coaster of emotion and suspense. "Hurtling is one of the best thrillers with a female lead that I have read - in the same class as the Stieg Larrson books." Jesse Agee, author, Las Vegas "Hurtling to the Edge is a thriller with a kick ass ending. Lexi is a middle aged woman looking for adventure and she finds it. The more trouble she encounters, the more I learned that she's up to the challenge." Susan Lampazzi, teacher, Virginia "This is a fast read.....why? Because you cannot put it down. Lexi has quite a way to deal with being a widow with a mid-life crisis " Mary Jane Heater, author, New Jersey "Wow I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. It's a great story, very well written with lots of twists and turns It had me laughing out loud and holding my breath with suspense at the end " Helen Boyd Schwartz, editor, Spokane I could not put this book down It is a thriller in the vein of David Baldacci or James Patterson. The characters are very complex, and the plot twists keep you guessing until the end. The storyline allows the reader to vividly imagine being in each of the locales of the book, experiencing exactly what the characters in the book are going through. The main character, Lexi, is easy to relate to, and the supporting characters throughout the book all add depth. This is certainly a must-read D. Dutrow, Engineer, Tennessee Well written...fast pace....strong characters.....excellent story. Found it hard to put down, always waiting for the next plot twist. A bit of fantasy brought to life in a story that is believable Leo Troy, M.D., Boston The author displays a fluid writing style that lays down a good foundation for the main character's development. He brings the reader along a twisty/turny ride (through description and appreciation of some beautiful natural scenery as a bonus) to a hang-on-to-your hat climax. There are many instructive asides in basic physics and astronomy, and some enticing descriptions of some of our best national park locations. The author has an impressive, practical knowledge of how stuff works. Mr. Linz was able to get into the mindset of a mid-life but "not-even-close-to-done" woman and creates a strong, resourceful and smart lady who thinks out of the box. There is a dose of cynical social commentary and some pretty salty language, but it all fits and makes this read a fast and rewarding one. B. Berthrong, Farmer, Virginia"
