Mr. Ginzburg for me has captured the thing that is New York. I got several of these books as gifts for friends going to the City for the first time. It is much easier than trying to tell them about a city they'll only experience a small piece of.

The book is a great ice-breaker. When people visit my place, they grab it from the coffee table. First they look up what happened on their birthdays, then look for their passions: gossip, sports, celebrities, wildlife.. Princess Di's outfit being checked out by Donna Karan, s & m in Soho, Pete Sampras making a game-winning slam. It's like taking a month in New York City with a chauffeur and endless cash.
