Social zero meets unlikely hero How had Keysha gone from popular to social outcast? One word: frenemy. A girl Keysha thought was her friend planted drugs on her--and Keysha got caught. The media blitz on their wealthy suburb turned everyone against her. First day back at school, and Keysha is stared down in the halls. Whispered about. No one will talk to her. And the girl who ruined Keysha's reputation laughs in her face. So when a guy with his own bad rep offers to help, Keysha's first reaction is yeah, right. Talk about an unlikely hero. But soon she realizes that Wesley Morris is more than just hot, more than just talk. He's been there, done that and turned his life around. But no one wants this so-called bad-news boyfriend anywhere near Keysha. Including her family. Still, Wesley isn't willing to walk away and let Keysha Also Available pay for someone else's crime. He'll even risk everything to save her...and their relationship.
Wesley Morris finds himself in a juvenile detention center. He can't believe that his mom reported the car stolen, but it isn't like she hasn't been a thorn in his side for years. While he doesn't want to be locked up and told what to do, it's a drastic change from the hell he's been facing living with his drunken mother. Keysha is back and the drama, rumors and impending court case have her literally on the edge. While she has been able to bridge the gap in her blended family, she's socially in hell as she tries hard to rid herself of the vicious lies being spread about her. If there was a `My Mom's Worse Than Your Mom' television program, surely Wesley and Keysha would tie for first prize. How likely is it to find two kids, whose moms are too self involved to care about their children's welfare? Even less likely, two fathers who willing pick up the slack and love, encourage and support their children freely. Can two outcasts find commonality as they try removing the shackles that have caused so much confusion into their young lives? IF I WERE YOUR BOYFRIEND is the sequel to KEYSHA'S DRAMA written by Earl Sewell. While the book is a quick read, that reminds readers on what happened in the past, the storyline, while very interesting at points, feels a little too much for this particular teen novel. IF I WERE YOUR BOYFRIEND places emphasis on self respect, self worth, trust, loyalty and love. I really enjoyed how the author made a point that teens and parents keep a direct line of communication open. I am looking forward to reading more about Keysha and the blast from her past real soon.
Excellent Book!

Mr. Sewell is by far one of the best writers I have come across. This story of girl and a boy finding their way through family issues and peer pressure and the love they receive from the people that mean the most to them is awesome! The way Mr. Sewell tells this story is nothing short of impeccable and how kids and teenagers can get over any obstacles life brings by love and support is great. You must read "Keysha's Drama" first though before you read this. This is a series. You will love it!
