This work looks at several other investment vehicles available to the individual investor. It covers several leading investment alternatives to the stock market, including bonds and CDs, REITs and... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I re-read this recently and it proves to be just as useful as when published in 2004. It gives clear descriptions of investment options, as well as whether or not to initiate those investments in times of high or low interest and boom/bust economies. Warning: As good as this book is, skip the chapters on mortgage-backed investments and affiliated options. The author, like most of us, was duped into believing in the "stability" of the mortgage investment market. He even sings the praises of Freddie Mac and Sallie Mae's financial sturdiness. Hindsight being what it is, it's forgivable. So don't let that sway you from taking a look at this as a primer for neophyte investors.
