There are too many people that suffer in silence, even within the church. We assume that because we have given our lives to Christ that we have to present an image of a life that is whole and healed rather than be real . The problem with this scenario is when reality sets in and struggles come, we have no one to run to, so we suffer in silence. Even when we expose our weaknesses or our struggles, it can be considered a lack of faith or, even worse, we will be judged and rejected by the ones whom we had come to trust. This has been one of the greatest tragedies in causing many to fall away from the church.
To be known on earth as we will be fully known in heaven is a scary thing. In our broken humanity, we fear the judgement of man, condemnation and rejection from those in whom we love and respect. Never realizing that at the core of every human being is a sinful nature in which the God of heaven seeks to redeem, through the blood of Christ for which He was crucified in our behalf to reconcile us unto himself.
What happens when you have to choose the lesser of two evils or on the road to demise? How do we see clearly when these things obscure our vision? How do we function when there is a gamut of emotions running rapidly and out of our control? In dealing with heartache, anger, frustration, and loss we have a tendency to develop coping mechanisms that appear innocent and effectual for the moment, but in the long run has developed unhealthy patterns that are detrimental to our emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.
