There are so many certification programs now that one needs a program just to follow them all, and that is what this book is. It is a compilation of most of the major certification programs available today. The Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, Oracle, Sun, Novell and the Prosoft CIW are all briefly described. A short summary of the individual programs, their names, what is covered, the exams to take in their proper sequence if applicable, how to make contact and the fundamentals of how to prepare for the exam are all given. Other certification programs such as the ones that cover Linux and security issues are also described. The links to vendor-specific information and other help sites are also included. This book fills a very important need. Most people are in a virtual maze trying to understand all of the programs that have arisen. After consulting this book, you will know the basics of the programs and have some idea whether any of them is something that you should pursue. The authors are also very careful to maintain a journalistic style neutrality concerning the programs.
