It's Who We Are

Everything wants your attention. It needs the energy that resides in you. Everywhere we turn you are put upon like a village that's war torn: every bookmaker, self-help book, advert for self-realisation, trying to package you into the perfect human: no flaws, wanting you to grab the thrill to be dashing and charismatic that only they can fulfill, if you grasp their opportunity.

Life without the flaws would render us a flatline, never climbing the mountain or falling into the mire. We can all show the world the best side we have to offer, but the best radiates through kindness and taking a moment to be thoughtful, to step aside to let the old lady pass, to engage with everyday people whose best years are memories, but still need to play out their role as justification for the mark they made on life. Because they, we, and you, matter.

I never wanted the everyday to be so beautifully staged that everything is hidden from sight. Imagine if there were no faces that were "lived in," or grey hair, no rain cascading along the roads and gutters, just perfection. Pure bliss? We all want happy endings, but without a story there can be no happy ending. You have to have layers that underpin the person that you have become, everyone is perfect as they are, if we leave the judgement where it belongs.
