J. V. Vondels Faeton, Of Reukelooze Stoutheid: Treurspel (1742) is een toneelstuk geschreven door Joost van den Vondel. Het verhaal gaat over Faeton, de zoon van de zonnegod Helios, die de zonnewagen wil besturen maar hier niet toe in staat is. Hij vraagt zijn vader om hulp, maar deze weigert. Faeton besluit toch de zonnewagen te besturen, maar verliest de controle en veroorzaakt chaos op aarde. Uiteindelijk wordt hij door Zeus gedood met een bliksemschicht. Het toneelstuk behandelt thema's als overmoed, de relatie tussen vaders en zonen en de gevolgen van onverantwoordelijkheid.
