What can I say? This is simply another great book written by the Jaguar expert. It tells you everything that you want to know about this classic model.
The ideal book.

As much about the owners as the cars

I won't repeat what the other reviewers rightly say about this book's completeness. But that's only half the enjoyment of reading it. What really fascinates me is its portrayal of car enthusiasts, especially felophiles (Jag lovers). Its near-compulsive detail, its sometimes quaintly Edwardian writing style, its concealed but still-evident passion about what most people perceive as a collection of metal -- all offer a fascinating, if unintended, insight into the "car nut." As such, it is good reading for the spouses of same, if only to help them understand what drives their mates to such illogical forms of transportation.
Excellent History of the XJ Series I,II,III Cars

The history of a Jaguar model is once again penned by the deft hands of Nigel Thorly. This book describes in detail all three series of the XJ cars, their racing history (yes, they have one), and how to select and restore a car. This book only covers Jaguar XJ6 and XJ12 cars from the early '70s through the late '80s. Many of the newer Jaguar XJ cars badged with the XJ6 are of the XJ-40 or revised variety. It is easy to spot a model covered by this book. Simply look for the dual-fuel tank fillers, one on each side of the trunk. The only disappointment in this book was the minimal coverage of the XJ6C and XJ12C models. These two-door coupes were produced in very small numbers, and few of them remain.
