Jamaica Mi Hungry: The Taste of St. Anne's and St. Catherine's Parishes

As a child, my house was always filled with the smells of Jamaica. I lived with my mom and grandparents who were born in St. Anne's. My grandfather would make breakfast for me four times a week. Fanny would make breakfast the other days. I always knew what was for breakfast by the music playing; I loved when I woke up to Bob Marley, an instant smile spread across my face. Why? Because that meant that, it was Cornmeal Porridge day or my Fanny's famous oatmeal. That recipe was brought down by Nana, affectionately known in St. Anne's as Aunt Mim. When we heard Garnett Silk, it was Ackee and Salt fish for breakfast. So much music, so much food Holiday's in my family was also a huge thing. We believed in a house full of food and family. We all cooked at an early age, so everyone made his or her favorite dish, I was the fat kid so every dish was my favorite. Hahaha I loved food, all food While everyone was outside playing, I was inside the kitchen. So therefore, I decided to become a chef. Even though my grandma is not here anymore. My nose is still filled with the smells of St. Anne's and St. Catherine's. I hope you enjoy our Family recipes. Ok Let's Cook Kateri
