Using Visual J++, this book guides users through building applications and applets from the bottom up. It provides coverage of the Visual J++ development environment. Using step-by-step methodology, users read about a concept, then enter code within the context of solving the problem posed in the chapter case and using the concepts just presented.
I used this book in my college and really liked it. This book teaches java and microsoft visual j++ at the same time. This may not sound as a big deal but i think it is! why? most java programming books only teach the java programming language, and most visual j++ books only teach you the advance features of visual j++, but none teach how to use visual j++ to build simple java applications or appplets! no wonder so many people get frustrated with visual j++ because they dont know how to use it to for hte simplest tasks! this is where this book comes, and it really does a good job in it. i really liked the chapters wehre i learned about applets, graphics, multi-threading and animation, and windows applications and packaging. i would recommend this book to all beginners who want to learn java.
