My three year old is rather obsessed with jellyfish and loves this book. He rejected the more age-appropriate books I picked because they didn't identify all of the jellies. I agree with the previous reviewer that the end of the book is the least appealing but could be great for the 11-year-old the book is aimed at. The CD however was a bit disappointing. I'd hoped there'd be more video of the jellies in motion but it's mostly just pictures.

Interesting and Engaging Book

My 5-year-old has always been interested in things related to ocean creatures. We've read quite a few books about jellyfish. This book is the best we've read - really engaging and informative. The photos are colorful, detailed and illustrate the ideas explained in the text. The book introduces 2 marine biologists who appear throughout the book with comments. My son was very interested in their comments and curious about their jobs. This book has TONS of information. We were finally able to answer the questions "Do jellyfish have eyes? Do jellyfish recognize each other? Do jellyfish have brains?" The last couple of chapters don't focus on jellyfish - they cover ocean conservation and scientific classification. Not our favorite chapters, but a great book. We've read the book and my son loves browsing through the book. We're looking forward to checking out the cd that comes with it.
