Moving to Texas offers the promise of big adventure . . . but the journey there is tougher than Jericho ever imagined Leaving Tennessee for Texas in 1852 to make a fresh start seems like pure adventure to Jericho Wetherby. But as he and his family travel across the country with a few animals and a covered wagon loaded with possessions, they endure rain, muddy roads, bitter cold, and illness . . . and the fast approach of winter's blinding snowstorms. Can they make it to their new home before winter strikes? And is Jericho brave enough to survive the trip? " A] fast-paced, action-packed pioneer story."--Kirkus Reviews "The book's great local color and folksy, personable narrator . . . will carry readers along for the trip."--Booklist
I enjoyed this book. I like stories set in western times and this was one of the best. Im starting to think any thing wisler writes is worth reading. this book deals with the coming of age of young jerico as he and his family travel from tenn. to texas Much of this trip jer. made on foot. The toughness of people from this time period is amazing to me. It took strength and courage just to survive day to day. this book is so well written you can practically sense your on the journy with the family. I feel this is the objective of any book, regardless if it is for adults or kids.
The best book ever

This was a really good book. It was about Jericho's family moving to Texas in a wagon. It took them 4 months to get there. It was a really exciting book. I am 8 years old. It took me a week to read.
