Is it possible for a youth ministry to shift toward a passionate, persistent, and permeating focus that draws students into a closer orbit around Jesus? Absolutely But this adventure shouldn't be the... This description may be from another edition of this product.
"Jesus Centered Youth Ministry" has made me stop to think what our ministry with youth would look like if Jesus was truly central in everything. I agree with the author that "More of Jesus and less of ministry" is the key for a positive change that could revolutionize our ministries as well as our personal walks with God. I believe this book will be an encouragement and eye-opening experience for anyone who picks it up. Practical tips and life experience stories for all the basics of ministry from counseling to evangelism are given with the main focus on the only One who really counts-Jesus.

I got several copies and passed them on to other YP's. They also liked and implimented some ideas. But isn't that what its all about glean what you can use it to work...if it fails try something new.

JCYM ought to be passed out at the door of all student ministry programs and become standard curriculum. It's not just that Lawrence has a way of painting pictures and presenting hard research meant to compel change; this is one of the most powerful books on Jesus I've read. And like Lawrence's Youth Ministry in the 21st Century, JCYM combines deep insight and practicality for doable student ministry - especially the small group and communication chapters. I also really liked the inspiring chapters on volunteers and parents. I can actually implement so much of what I've read. I'll refer back to JCYM more than once.
