After performing well in an AP US history class last year, I was skeptic about my performance on the subject test, fearing that I had forgotten a lot of material. However, this book was of great help. The review section isn't very detailed, so it may be helpful to use this book with another review book (such as one for AP US history). But the practice tests are fantastic. Quite a few of the Kaplan questions appeared on the SAT subject test I took. I ended up with a 700.

I don't know how much the first person who reviewed this book learned about US history in the first place, but after taking a very difficult AP US history class, I thought I was set for the test. It turns out I wasn't prepared enough and I took the test a 2nd time, this time using the Kaplan SAT subject Test book and I ended up getting a 710. I think this book is very helpful, especially as a supplement. The practice tests provided some of the same exact questions, pictures, and graphs as the actual test, which made it so much easier when it came time to take the real test.
